Stage 2 heat is cooling, what am I missing?
Hey, I recently got installed my thermostat (honeywell th8320U), by the second service company i ve called to do work on my heating system.
The first company I've called told me I have a 1 heat / 1 cool system. After the technician left, my heating and cooling system were no longer working. Called him and said it isn't working, and he said he will be coming back to check on it, retried calling him and the phone number is no longer active. Called a second technician, and now this tech is saying i ve got a very good system at 3 stage heat/ 2 stage cool. He specified that my heat pump is 2h/2c and inside my emergency heat. I originally thought, since the other tech told me 1h/1c, that the unit outside was only for the cooling and the unit inside the electric furnace. Turns out its a complete heat pump. Good news of course, more efficient. So now I get the tech to install my termastat, and says he is not familiar with the heat pump system... great. Now my stage 1 heat heats properly, but when my stage 2 heat kicks on it starts to cool...
Woke up this morning and it was 16 degrees in the house instead of 21. Cold air coming out of the ducks.
Here is how he wired it,
Thermastat heatpump Furnace
RC/R (jumper)---------RC-----------------RC
W and O/B together---W and O/B--------N/A
Y---------------------Y----------------N/A
G---------------------------------------G (Fan)
C---------------------C-----------------C
Aux-------------------W1/66-----------N/A
E---------------------------------------E (stage 3 electric heat (used under -10c))
Y2 not wired to anywhere
L not wired to anywhere
This is a single transformer setup on 24v.
What the heck did he do wrong?
Kinda skeptical calling another tech at the moment, they all seem to mess it up.
Any advice from the pros here?
Would be great help, as I've spent ovet 1200$ so far and my system still isnt working.
Thanks

A whole $1,200 for a new heating system, eh? Sounds to this pro like you never had much a real pro working equipment you bought via the internet. If I'm wrong, I apologize. Either way, you need to have a real professional sort out your problems.
If you believe that all professionals seem to "mess it up", why in the world would you be looking for help here?Government is a disease......masquerading as its own cure…Ecclesiastes 10:2 NIV

Lots of techs don't understand how York/Coleman heat pumps are wired to work correctly, call a company that deals in York equipment and they should be able to set it up properly.

Hi,
I haven't purchased a new system, only using the one that was already in the house. Sorry if I have lead you to believe that it is a new system.
Alright I ll check with other companies.
Although I am curious to know what w1/66 is on the heat pump. Any ideas?
Thanks

W1/66 is what energizes electric heat during the defrost cycle

They don't need to be a HP York or Coleman specialist. They need to know how to read a friggin wiring diagram.
