We have a Trane XV90, installed mid-2004. We had to replace the igniter last Oct., after having it a little over a year - it was blowing cool air. Now, it's doing it again - but apparently, only in stage 2. The contractor just left, and told me he turned off stage 2, so it will provide heat - and that he's going to obtain a new circuit board, so he can replace that, probably tomorrow.
I'm a novice, but I like to learn - especially when it's regarding repairing a relatively new system, for the second time. Based on what I read on threadid=71113, I'm not so confident that a new circuit board is going to fix it. I did show the contractor that thread, but he said it had nothing to do with it - is that why stage 1 is working? What other areas/parts should be checked - what could the culprit be? He thought at one point it might be due to a spider in the pipe leading outside - he cleaned a web out, but that had no effect. (is it really that sensitive?)
thanks for your help! Cathy
