WHy?
Not sure what they were trying to accomplish here.
And i just thought there markings on theses pipes were funny, the drainline was about 6 ft long on the roof, pretty much stright to the unit, and everytime the pipe made a 90 they maked # 6 on it, about 4 times lol, is it that hard to follow a 6ft drain line

You seem to run across a lot of this stuff. Do they have inspectors where you live?

Seems like someone is affraid of the RTU draining on the roof. So if it's a code someone might be looking for it. Don't know 100%. Atleast the OP has the best Army.

They do have inspectors, alot the the traps ive seen lately have had somebody out that put the traps on a few days before or weeks before i get out there and then they have a water leak in the building, with the exception of this one, its obviously been there awhile, i just noticed that trap when i was walking across the roof

I'm guessing they put the trap/run all together and couldn't get it the fitting any tighter...so eff it, just leave it.
