cool trick
yesterday went on a call for a walk in freezer. the on call tech over the weekend had been out and said the ll solonoid was bad. i show up but find unit running at temp but starting to ice over coil but not too bad, he had been there on sunday this was monday . find that he had took a magnet from an old microwave he had worked on and placed it on solonoid and zip tied it. it was working great . thought i would pass this trick on as i thought it a great way to get you by untill you can get the part.

CPS has magnet rings for this as well. I picked a couple up at united refrigeration a few years ago. They are fantastic go recovery and evacuation of pump down systems. And for failed coils on a Sunday as in your case. Love the use what ya got to get where you need mindset of your partner. Bravo.

It's good thinking on your toes.
But in a service situation, you are better off stocking solenoid coils over magnets.
New install, no power, no manual stem, it's good then too.

I got coils and magnets but I wonder if a wire and battery would work and if it did for how long
