If you have an infinity or evolution stat why would you want to do somthing so foolish. Nest is for people that don't know any better.
not sure of carrier model #
do know bryant tho....and if your heatpump has ecm fan motor....then no it will not work.
although several heat pumps have the same infinity board, options are different. and that definetly includes ecm motors on hp
Please, Please Please......keep the Factory Smoke in the Wires!!!!!
Is it Rum'Oclock yet???

I really don't care for the Infinity stat. To make it wireless, I would have to pay $ bucks. With Nest I get it for less than $ bucks :-)
I don't think people on this forum know but Nest came out with generation 2 of their product. It supports 2 stage heat pumps and 3 stage furnaces. Also, I get it wifi enabled and a super slick Iphone application.
People before you knock Nest go to the sight and check it out!
Heat pump I have is 25HNA6 with furnace 58MVC
Both have 24V stat hookups.

A lot of us are completely aware of the 2nd generation Nest.
Yes, it will operate your equipment, but there there will be some things that need to be manually configured on the equipment control boards.
The system will operate at somewhat reduced capability,e.g., loss of all humidity control features, loss of most of the functionality of your variable capacity gas furnace, loss of proportional control of cooling and heating stages, and none of the advanced diagnostic information will be accessible.
You will also need several more control wires between the thermostat and the furnace, and between the furnace and outdoor unit, than the Infinity control system requires.
Installing a Nest thermostat on your Infinity system is like giving it a full frontal lobotomy.

Moved to AOP Residential forum.
Looks like a DIY thread to me.
Have you looked at the ecobee? More functionality than Nest, No need to pull a new wire since it also has a remote control module. Priced about the same as Nest.
As I've said before I'd stay with the infinity control, it's part of what makes your high end HVAC system high end. If you are going to change from a communicating system to a standard system I recommend you have a pro do it. It's nothing like swapping out standard thermostats.
Unless the nest can communicate with the equipment, it will never be as capable. What makes infinity special is it abilty to not only use improved lopgic fpr staging, but modulate airflow inmultiple steps to control humidity in ac mode. Next is advanced diagnpstics, inckuding blower rpm, static pressure, fault history, runtimes and cycle counters. It also shows condenser coil temp and ourdoor air temp...meaning you can even see when your coil is getting dirty...and can do dual fuel and low ambient without a add on sensor or kit.

Does anyone know if this carrier stat is available: SYSTXCCITW01
Does it have wifi built in or do I have to buy another module? I would be interested in this module since it looks like it is plug and play.
Yes. Call a contractor to install it.
Is the wifi built into the thermostat? Do you know how much I will need to budget to get this unit?
Wifi is built in and there is no charge to use the www.myinfinity.carrier.com website or the IPhone app for remote monitoring and system changes.
How much will it cost to Install? Call your local Carrier authorized dealer for pricing info.
The guy that sold you your equipment didn't explain what communicating does or means, maybe he didnt know.
Not your fault you didn't realize the nest is a complete joke with your equipment. Moving from a computer back to a typewriter (in a pretty box). Glad the point eventually got across, as you would have done yourself great disservice spending money to effectively castrate your system.
The new stat is just rolling out, not many people have installed them enough that there is broad understanding of setup. On the other hand, it may be plug n play upgrade (one of the beautiful things about communicating, just 4 wires). Hopefully easier to get on-line than the old SAM wifi module. Please let us know how it works out.
I bought the 58MVC back in 2008 to get online experience. The tech that installed the unit said it would work with the Infinity Control. After the install the tech just told me it was coming and they could add it on later. Well that coming turned out to be nothing. The tech never got back to me and I did not have what I wanted from day one. When Nest announced they could support a 2 stage heat pump and a 3 stage furnace, I thought it would be a simple upgrade to finally get online usage.
Well, if Nest is a horrible product and I should stay with Carrier, then please tell me how can I get online access? I have been looking around and found Carrier has a new thermostat (SYSTXCCITW01). It seems like it has access to online site I can use to control my system. My experience with Carrier has not been good. Anytime I try to enquire about Carrier locally, people don't seem to understand what online means? Most techs here just know simple stuff when it comes to control of the unit. However, if I ask them about the unit I have, then they can talk until I tell them enough. But online stuff, then they are clueless.
I work with computers all day and understand all this stuff. I have read the online documentation and totally understand how it works. The biggest problem is trying to find someone that understand what I need. Since I have the Infinity control, I have seen the new stat is just plug and play. Rather than me trying to find a dealer understand what I am looking, I would love to be able to buy the stat and install it myself.
No offence to people on here, but I find existing dealers refuse to learn the new high tech online stuff. Maybe this is why I love the concept of Nest.
Reg, tons of settings. All handled at controller, no dip switches. Now you can even get charge at the control.
King, there is already Internet access. Requires a SAM. They are a lot of $. Like 2 infinity stats kind of money. And Carriers portal wins all kind of awards for "websites that suck."
AND they want $100 a year subscription.
I've sold 2 SAMs, and the rep indicated that that's about 1/2 of the SAMs sold in my area.
If you step back and think about it, a thing you never sell is a thing you are not likely to understand. Training without practice doesn't stick for long. The idea of training people on such a thing starting to sound absurd yet?
If there is enough demand from early adopters like you, the market will develop itself. But the cost of being an early adopter is you are the guinea pig.
Wow did not know it was that horrible. It seems the new unit looks promising. I love the Iphone app over at the Itunes store: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/myinf...542004406?mt=8
I would love to upgrade to this stat. Do you have any information on it? What kind of pricing am I looking at?
Re: Nest tstat and Infinity equipment, to me it comes down to this...cripple the high degree of monitoring and control of the equipment itself to gain the ability to monitor and control a thermostat online.
Worth it? Only you can decide. I wouldn't do it; I don't care how slick the replacement stat might look or its web features, unless it can duplicate what the OEM control does, which is unlikely.
