The house we just moved into has a fireplace on the back wall of the house, gas fake logs in it. I wondered how much trouble and or cost would it be to modify the outside part of it, add a wood burning fireplace (for outdoor use) and tap into the chimney of the existing fireplace. Not sure if I am making myself clear or not or if this is possible..
Thanks for any suggestions.....

Not sure I understand what you are trying to do, but I'd say NO! Gas and wood need different venting materials, clearances, etc.
Where are you? Are you done yet? I got ONE more call for you.....

uhhh... sounds like a bad idea to me. What if the smoke decides to go into the house instead of up the chimney?
