Hi All:
I am a homeowner in two story, 3000ft house in Dallas. I am getting two new XL16i put in (3&4 ton units). The old copper 3/4" suction line (for the new 3 ton unit)is a bit pinched where it comes out of the brick wall. I would say the cross sectional area of the tube is reduced by 25%, but only for a 1/2 inch or so in length. Will this restriction reduce the efficiency on my unit? If so, by how much? I am spending good bucks on a high efficiency unit so I don't want to blow it on something stupid like a pinched pipe. If you have any technical references, please provide.
Thanks very much in advance.

I dont have the specs to look at, but a smaller line will reduce capacity. Are you sure a 3/4 line is big enough?
If you can see it,then you can fix it...usually

Yes - the spec calls for 3/4" (its R410a for xl16i).

You already know the right thing to do is correct the pinched pipe. No one here can intelegently tell you what losses you will suffer but there can be no good come of it.
