motor master install
Hey guys, Have some basic A C condencing units and where installing motor-masters to control head preasure. Was wondering who leaves the factory sleeve bearing motors in and who puts in ball bearings ones.Was told sleeve ones will fail after a year. You opinions please.

I bet the motor master will fail before the sleeve bearing motor does.

Check with the motor manufacturer to see if they are suitable for variable speed control.

I used to like using the old Ranco pres. controls to control pressures but dont see manafacturers recommending them anymore.

Would be safer on that application to just use the on/off pressure switch.

Get the ICM or Americian Tech speed controls. Good for both sleeve and bearing.

As mrhavacmechanic stated look into the ICM control , make sure it is set for the type of bearings you have in the motor.
All that will happen ,is a sleeve bearing will go to full speed for a brief time then reduce in rpm's. (I was told this was to ensure that the sleeve bearing was properly lubricated.) May have to relocate the sensor to find the best place to sense, but once dialed in
, have not had any problems.
