High pressure problem
Troubleshhoting a 10 to r22 system w reset switch, upon resetting it the pump turn on and high side hits 400psi in a few seconds then shuts off..
When it shuts off the txv valve makes a strong humming noise for a few seconds then stops... Could this be a bad txv?

I think he meant 10 ton r22 system.
Sounds like a ristriction of the collosal{big} type.

think he means 10 ton maybe. if you think it is the tx put the bulb in some warm water and see if that makes a difference. check for any visible kinks in line, possible plugged filter drier? how many "seconds" does it take

it can't be the TXV. You would get more then 5 seconds of run time. And it would need to be overcharged, the unit should pump down and trip the low pressure before it trips the HP switch. Is it a tin can or semihermetic? Where is the pressure switch? Are there any service valves on the dischargre line that can be partially closed? What is the history of the equipment?

Reciprocating compressor, the compressor is about 3 months old, the air h is about 3 years old, there's a pic, hope it uploads.. The system may have been overcharged from what i understand about 2 weeks ago..
Standing high side reads 200psi.

If there has been a compressor change on the unit I have seen the needle in the txv black and dirty from the torching/old compressor burn out. Especially when brazing without nitrogen.

Fans on? Plastic bag wrapped around cond? Split coils? If fans on and coils clean start pulling charge. Agree with push it on the restriction thing
