York Furnace and Honeywell Zoning

Dip setting on board to tell it that its zoned, and not to go into extended run after the stat stops calling.

On zone systems that the panel is set to open all dampers after heat call is over, you can leave it go into extended run, and it helps minimize short cycling.

Not on a York Mod it won't.

Does york not make their own zone control that will modulate the furnace and v-drive based on demand? Similar to lennox's harmony system?

They are coming out with one. I was at the factory a couple of months ago and they said it should be ready around the beginning of the year

So I am going with the 2 stage because I can't take advantage of the Mod Furnace...thank you. HVAC tech will be here in 20 minutes. Any last minute advice on questions to ask?

Ok So the HVAC is going to quote me a 1 stage VS 95.5% furnace with humdifier, and 2stage VS 96% furnace. I really want the 2 stage so we'll see price. However because I don't plan to stay here longer then 2/3 more years the cost may make a difference. He did say don't get the mod furnace with the Honeywell zoning but said on my next house that is the way to go and York is coming out with a good zoning system to take advantage of the Mod Furnace. I'll be getting the bids via email tonight.

I would suggest going with the 2 stage because I have yet to see a gas furnace that is not oversized for the house, 2 stage will give much better comfort IMO

They don't make a single stage VS blower furnace. They do make single stage furnaces with ECM motors, but they are not variable.

Beenthere, thank you I just saw that on his bid, he said VS at the house but the bid is ECM.

Ok all so the York equipment and install is just under double the Amana VS 2 stage, which should I do? Remember this is simply pull the current unit, hook up new furnace, and start up.

It depends on the contractor reliability and proper installation, the Amana will perform just as we'll and reliably as the York but the price MAY reflect cutting corners, sub par installation practices, underpayed/unskilled install techs etc. just keep in mind the lowest bidder is not always cheapest in the long run, could cost double to have problems corrected from improper installation.

Update: Its just now become available. I may even be installing one of the first ever in a week or two. I have the installation manual if anyone cares to take a gander. Looks pretty cool.
