Actually, attacking Muhammed for marrying a 9 year old girl is not accomplishing much since it was not illegal or considered wrong to do in the time period and culture that Muhammed lived in. Men took prepubescent girls as wives for many reasons and the cultural standards were that a man who took such a girl as his wife would care for that girl's well being and education until a predetermined age in which the man and girl were allowed to consumate their marriage.

Muhammed should not be demonized by comparing his life to our culture. There are many things about Muhammed to be admired as well as many things to be criticized. To condemn Muhammed's actions that were within the social standards of his time and place just gives defenders of Islam room to say that critics of Muhammed simply don't understand historical social standards.

Robo, why don't you list some of the "admirable" things about Mohammed? IF a serial killer is a good cook would you call that an admirable thing??

So, I guess since so many afghanistan men have gay thursday with little boys, we shouldn't be upset about that. Or be concerned with NAMBLA pushing for sex with children of all ages.

I'm really not into situational ethics. Right is right and wrong is wrong. Doesn't matter the culture or time. As long as enough people are for it?

Well... the story is that Mo.... took ayesha when she was 7 years old and consumated the marriage when she was 9 or 10......

But... there is only one hadith that mentions this and it isnt from a source that even the muzzies consider reliable.

There are many other sources and hadiths that place her age as older.

But like rusty roboto san mentions...... you gots to look at the time period......and you have to look at the people and culture.

There are things that our own ancestors did that we would consider barbaric and evil today....

Also.... the hadiths, the qran and even our bible have a lot of symbolism in them...... colors dont mean colors....someone being 600 years old doesnt mean they lived 600 365 day years.....its sort of a stature thing.....

It was very important for the writers of these hadiths to show that ayesha was a virgin...... when Islam was first beginning she had a very significant role. She was said to be a divine gift to mo from allah....

If you look at the scriptures, there is coming a one world leader who will behead those who don't receive his mark. Could quite possibly be a muzlim.

A good cook is a good cook no matter how many innocent people they may kill. The world is not black and white, but rather many shades of grey. That goes for all of us.

Muhammed was a great strategist and mediator. It is my opinion that Muhammed was also very clever at devising a story that brought Arabic tribes together while also allowing for a claim to brotherhood between Jews and Christians. So yes, Muhammed had admirable attributes along with his obvious faults.
