How to find residential HVAC specialist?
The duct system in my old house needs some improvement. All of the furnace and AC install guys that have been out to give quotes for high efficiency furnace have not been interested in the job of improving airflow.
Where is a good place to find someone that specializes in duct work or at least interested in the job? 90% of the ducts are in a fully exposed basement. Even suggestions for appropriate search terms would be helpful.

Any designer with Wrightsoft or comparable software can draw a specification that you can let out to any competent Tinner. We do it all the time for radiant floors, walls and ceilings and occasionally a manual "D" when no one else will do it.
Most HVAC or hydronic contractors are tradesman and depend on the local wholesaler (equipment distributor) to do the math for them. The notable exception is the odd commercial mechanical contractor that does some residential work.
What sort of airflow problem do you have?

Unfortunately, that's typical anymore. HVAC sales (anymore) is like buying a car. I think most (here) would agree that the salesman knows (or cares to know) anything about improving airflow.
The money (commission) is in the equipment. To much time, and little reward, for doing the job correctly.
