after they were "freed" they went right into unemployment.
blacks were organized and used by the left-wing Socialist politicians who told them the reasons for all their problems were because everyone was racist against them.

the left-wing politicians chose a bunch of nut cases to be their leaders.
the left-wing politicians told them the best thing they can do is take advantage of Socialist welfare programs.
the left-wing politicians allowed the rich to profit by flooding drugs into their communities.

the Democrats are bad for the blacks, ...the Democrats are bad for everyone.

for black people to switch from liberal to conservative they have to,
    1) Accept reponsibility for themselves and their situations.
    2) Go against most of the people in their community.
    3) Give up the comfort of victimhood.
    4) Refuse the small gifts and job offers handed to them from the left-wing
So we are to finger pointing again I see....shall I start with Richard Nixon? Or should I start at all?

We could both sit here and point fingers all night long, and both prove our claims, but that would not do this country any good would it?

Should we have another Civil war? Should we just kill each other? That would probably solve more problems than the gibberish that goes on around here.

Speak as one...or speak as none...fighting among ourselves will only get us all killed...but then that could be what they all want anyway.

I think you're right, but I haven't heard too many conservatives speak out against it--have you? I've never heard any of the conservative talk show host say, "Blacks aren't owed anything anymore, and they need to begin to take responsibility". There was talk of doing away with affirmative action by Bush I, but it never happened. Then Clinton said, "We need to mend, not end affirmative action", but Clinton didn't mean a word of it. If any politician would say that the federal government (or any level of government for that matter) should no longer show favortism towards blacks just because they have black skin, all hell would break loose. No conservatives have the guts to speak out against this. Heck, I took a chance of getting kicked off this board just by bringing this subject up. The democrats are not going to surrender their lock on the black vote because they can't win elections without it. That's why the resistance to the status quo is so fierce IMHO. Or maybe the democrats and media are so obsessed with "equality" that they can't see reality. But in any case, we have made a babied and spoiled generation of American blacks. In most places whites aren't even allowed to speak their mind about this subject--that's how insane all this has gotten IMHO. I wish I could peek 50 years into the future and see what race relations are like in America. I wonder if it would still be the same.

50 years from now the USA is going to be substantially more "brown" than it is now. So its going to be a whole new ball game. Look at the rise of latinos in government today...... Looks like the age of the white man in america is in decline.

This thread is very telling about why someone can get in trouble for stating the obvious about the right wing and the party they have commandeered.

Student, I really don't understand your objection to the above points. I might have phrased it differently in the description, more like "what the people of this country need to do to get the country back on track", thereby avoiding the political affiliation. However the points are all very valid. Until people accept responsibilities for themselves and stop blaming what did or didn't happen two or three generations ago, this country will never heal. I might be going out on a limb here, but I don't think anyone alive in the US today ever owned any slaves or massacered any Native Americans. It's time to move on.

A reminder, gentlemen, to discuss only the topic and keep any racist stuff to yourselves.

K, I'm sorry if my post appeared racist. I was referring to all Americans, no matter skin color, hair color, blood color or any other difference.

Do not have time to read the whole thread... here is a thought:

Remember this saying: Give a man a fish, you feed him for a day... Teach him how to fish, you feed him for the rest of his life.
GA's comment: You also change his life for the better.

There are a few hidden issues here:
One, you have to teach him to fish so it produces fish (not a trade school for a job that does not exist).
Two, why would he fish if he gets free fish every day?

Make learning a trade AND getting a job part of handouts... with a limit to the handouts... and the problem will be solved.

Now which party offers the free fish, and which party offers the lake and fishing pole?

The question really is which party wants to turn the country into a pay lake?

Cutting funding for Pell grants and raising the interest rate on school loans will not help with educating our citizens. Not everyone can ask their parents for money out of their 100 million dollar trust fund.

Hey Net, how many of our college educated young people are sitting unemployed? Quite a few of them due to them taking the easy degrees and not choosing a hireable field. How many Poli-Sci majors do we really need in this world.

More of the same handouts....give me a break.

What this country needs is more working class people instead of those too lazy to work or those that think they are too smart to work. And yes, I do have a college degree.

Piles and piles of government money and an abundance of easy to borrow money leads to exorbitant tuition rates. Nobody can afford to work their way through school anymore, and it is because of government interference to make college more "accessible". My wife is graduating nursing school with $50k in student loans! Nursing school! Schools are no longer competing to give the best education at the best price, they are competing for bigger shares of the government grant money and jacking up prices to keep up with each other's jacking up prices. I'd rather have affordable college than affordable loans.

Of course there are young people that make bad decisions, if you are shocked by that you are not a parent. But just as there are some who squander their handup many use it to get into fields that are in demand and maybe even become one of those job creators the cons speak of so often.
