Trane XL14i Compressor RPM low
Have a Trane XL14i and the compressor fan RPM seems to be lower than normal. It is the single speed fan motor rated at 825 rpm. The unit is not cooling the house like it used to, runs most of the afternoon in the heat of south La, the tech is scheduled to look at it today, any reason for the lower rpm?

there are many reasons a motor will slow down. none are good. let us know what the tech found.
it can overheat the system, I'd recommend shutting down the system while you wait for the tech. The TRUE highest cost system is the system not installed properly...

Tech came out, motor amp draw was 1 amp, (rated at 1.4 amp max)
The capacitor looked rusty and corroded so replaced that, but no change in rpm.
Will be getting a motor and was thinking about getting the 1175 rpm motor, any issues with that?

Sure is, the unit was designed for a certain rpm motor for a reason.

The tech is wrong the replacement motor is exactly the same also the xl units have a 10 yr part warranty , what is the model and serial number of the unit only need the first 4 digits of the serial number have replaced several motors on the 14i

That is a straight cooling unit and the motor should be under warranty . If you have the part and labor warranty there will be no charge if you do not you will have to pay labor

That unit uses a single speed 825rpm 1/6hp motor.
The unit was made in 2007, so the motor is still covered by the 10 year parts warranty. If more government is the answer, then it's a really stupid question.

To update this, the Tech submitted a warranty claim to Trane for a motor and they tell him that the claim is denied due to Hurrican Isaac. Said motor problem was caused by hurricane and power outages and they are not responsible. It was at lower rpm before and hurricane had nothing to do with it.
What should I do now?
Roughly how much should the motor be?
Wondering if I should just pay for it myself.
