Ahhh yes... The tornado siren song of a failed check or solenoid valve.

I have a Dunham Bush that has a liquid line solenoid stuck open, does it on every off cycle and still going strong after 5yrs. The compressor is starting to get a vibration from the screws running backwards I am assuming. The customer is very aware of the consequences but refuses to fix it.

I wonder how he will react when it scrambles.

I have changed check valves on Trane screw compressors before, , remove the discharge line,. Remove valve and install new, not sure if the carrier is the same, ,. Really wasn't a difficult repair,. But like I said not sure abot the carrier,.

Watched an open drive Stal screw do the same thing, overspeed drive motor backwards so fast the cooling fan disintergated and destroyed a 185 Kw motor, very expensive repair.

It's not too bad it's when you get in there and see how it made and you say how can it fail.

I've changed out a couple of those. The funny thing is I never see anything wrong with the devective valve. But when I change it out, no more back flow. The good news is they are easy to change.
