Ahhh yes... The tornado siren song of a failed check or solenoid valve.
I have a Dunham Bush that has a liquid line solenoid stuck open, does it on every off cycle and still going strong after 5yrs. The compressor is starting to get a vibration from the screws running backwards I am assuming. The customer is very aware of the consequences but refuses to fix it.UA LU189

I have changed check valves on Trane screw compressors before, , remove the discharge line,. Remove valve and install new, not sure if the carrier is the same, ,. Really wasn't a difficult repair,. But like I said not sure abot the carrier,.

Watched an open drive Stal screw do the same thing, overspeed drive motor backwards so fast the cooling fan disintergated and destroyed a 185 Kw motor, very expensive repair.

I've changed out a couple of those. The funny thing is I never see anything wrong with the devective valve. But when I change it out, no more back flow. The good news is they are easy to change.
