Sometimes the situation dictates desperate but safe measures. One of the many things I enjoy about the trade!!

I have done this several times.
First time I did, lead tech threw a fit, Boss seemed like he never heard of such thing, and I walked around with a big chip on my shoulder for the next week.
(this was also sat on call).
Until I read this post, I never heard/seen anyone else do this.

So...it was a 120 v contactor that failed and you simply knocked the control voltage down to 24 and used a 24 v contactor to pass the high voltage?
