I saw the literature for the Lennox HC16. It looks pretty impressive for a non hepa filter.
I am assuming the Merv 16 rating is based on the performance of the media filter and not the cabinet.
So I was wondering if I could use the HC16 media filter in my Honeywell F25 cabinet?
Does anyone know if this is possable?

Can't answer your question, but why don't you use the Honeywell F300? In Consumer Reports (October 2005), it performed identical to the HC16.

I had the F300E1019 installed in January 06 and had it removed after about 6 mo. The F300 is a EAC and it produces ozone that we could not tolerate. We quadrupled the use of our inhalers while this unit was installed.
I currently have the F500 hepa installed, with the F25.
It is time to change the F25 filter and thought I would see if the HC16 filter would work in the F25 cabinet.

Yes, you can install the HC16 filter in there -- assuming it's the same depth - there are two sizes of the HC16 - make sure you get the right one....
The HC16 is the only rated MERV16 box filter on the market - anything else even close does it as an EAC.
The nice thing about the HC16 is that - assuming the environment is relatively clean, the filter lasts one year. The pressure drop rating of the filter is "end of life"
It's available to any dealer (not lennox dealer specific).. contact your local Lennox sales office to order... if you're a dealer. If you're a homeowner - ask your dealer about it
Best,
delreds

If your concerned about the indoor air quality in your home contact a perfered Lennox dealer in your area. They may be able to perform an indoor air quality test and help you to find the best solution for your situation. Good luck

We're a lennox dealer, and I must say that the filters are hardcore. Just looking at them you can tell that they'll clean great! I can't remember a model# but they make a germicidal light/electric/merv16 filter. We did that on a house where the customers boy had such bad allergies that any type of mold or alot of dust caused him to go to the hospital or something. Lets just say: Major cleaning power!

Guys, thanks for the reply's.
It looks like the HC16 filter I need is the X6672 @ ???Thats pretty steep for a filter. Does anyone have a source with a better price?
Should I be concerned about pressure drop with this Merv 16 filter?

Considering the price of a HEPA filter, the price is a bargain! The filter lasts a year.. and retails for much more than what you've been quoted.. It'll be the best $???you'll spend this year!Originally posted by brian e

As long as your homes duct work is properly sized and you have a 'grade A' installation, then pressure drop isn't a factor..
