    1. Must present brith certificate or copy of birth certificate
    2. Must present SS card
    3. Must present 3rd identity document. My expired passport and expired WA DL may be considered as a supporting 3rd document
    4. Must present proof of residence with 2 documents. This can be bank account statements mailed to me, etc.
    5. Must pass the knowledge test (just like I'm 16 years old again)
    6. Must pass the driving test (just like I'm 16 years olda gain), but I can use a friend's car and his proof of liability on the car. I don't have to have my own.

The $150 owed on a red light camera ticket wont stop me from getting a TX DL
The total fee for everything is only $25.

As far as the TX ID only I didn't ask much about that. Items 1 through 4 would probably still be required.

I thought there was a 1 year grace period in TX for out-of-state expired licenses, but there isn't. I've had 4 TX driver's licenses since 1979, but those don't count.

Oh well, thank you republicans for making it so easy to vote--haha.
LOL! You are cruising around in Texas with an out of state expired license!?! LOL!

I am guessing you got busted by a county or state trooper, some of those city cops would have thrown you in the can until you could prove who you are. That is hilarious. But of course you did have an also expired passport. LOL! My stomach hurts from laughing. Like you have nothing to fear, so you just blow through a red light as if the intersection is your own personal property? After all that, if you have a friend who is willing to let you drive his car on his insurance to get your license you should really appreciate that kindness. I would not loan you a hammer or a screwdriver! LOL!

From what I'm hearing you have to aquire the additional ID..so it's not just a matter of identifying yourself, but a matter of wasting more of our "free" lives standing in line.
It is really not that big of a deal to have to go get an ID.

Time to nut-up and get an ID. They want one at the bank, they want one at the place of employment, I expect they want one at the place to get food stamps. Hello? If you can produce an ID for food stamps, you can produce an ID to vote. So Sorry.

What is it with you guys? I'm not saying voter ID is wrong, I'm saying it's wrong to implement a law 50 days to an election.

I am saying any idiot has an ID. You cannot have a bank account without an ID, no food-stamp, EVERYONE has an Id. Most illegals have an ID. WTF is wrong with asking for ID at voting? Do you want a Saudi visitor voting? This is not part of the included tourist package. How hard is that? An ID? This is not a bone-marrow extraction, A SIMPLE ID!!!!!!!!! Geez, nutzo over the most minor of requests...

ID please before you vote, reasonable request.

Just goes to show they don't care how much stress they put on the people, as long they can tell us what to do.
6 hour lines at the DMV is another problem. I do not think that is truthful, but if it is I do not care. We all have to stand in line, it sucks.

Everyone already has an ID. Illegals and gangsters maybe not, screw them.

D- student does not get it. Six hours in line is a bit extreme but in Harris County (Houston) the average line is three hours at least almost every day all day just to get a license and guess what, most of those in line do not speak English, even as a second language.

So, if it inconveniences what you believe in to convict a murdering rapist even though it was organizations that you support that held up the process, we should just not bother convicting such a person? Since when is doing the right thing wrong just because the timing doesn't suit some?

This country is in serious trouble and it is mostly due to the leftists who are currently in power. If we allow those leftists to manipulate another election in their favor, this is the one that could very well provide the pivot point of no return for the U.S. becoming a Socialist nation. If the U.S government goes any more Socialist, civil war is going to break out from those who are doing all of the providing against those who are abusing our money to buy support from those who are not willing to provide for themselves.

Do not think for one moment that Americans who are supporting the current system are going to allow the Socialist regimes that other smaller countries allow to completely take over. IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN! If the Democrats are allowed to manipulate another election, there is going to be violent revolt from those who are supporting the system and from those who no longer are able to support the system because of the loss of public sector jobs.

Nothing you are saying makes any sense. Every senario you come up with is more ridiculous than the last one. 50 days is nearly two months for crying out loud. Not that this makes any difference because it is all just more lame excuses for allowing a system that is so easily manipulated to continue to be left wide open so Democrats can take advantage of voter fraud.

If Democrats were not wanting so much to commit voter fraud, there would be no reason for them to oppose taking measures to prevent voter fraud.

Obama may have failed completely in his commitment to have a transparent administration, but you leftists are so transparent you are complete panes (and pains) that we can clearly see right through.

I feel your pain brother, I remember getting my renewal in south Dallas area for work related reasons 10-15 years ago. I could have been in mexico for all I knew. It did suck. I am thinking maybe two hours or so.

Just suck it up and deal with it. Listen to some tunes on your smart-phone or i-pad thingy.

My last job, I had to have two forms of photo ID to cash my stupid paycheck at my employers bank. The b@5+@rds still charged me 5 bucks for the privilege. Point being, not saying red tape is good but voting should require some verification. If getting an ID is a pain in the bu++ for you, welcome to the USA. And I am sorry, but I do not care, stand in line like the rest of us.

Let's face it folks, you pretty much cannot exist in the U.S. legally without some form of ID.

If you cannot show any form of ID, you cannot prove you exist. If you don't exist, you can't vote.

Lets face it folks..... its isnt going to take dead voters or illegal voters or people running to the back of the line voting all day to defeat Romney....

    He has defeated himself.....

Americans should have selected a candidate who could at least pretend to care about all americans..... Ron Paul...Herman Cain..... both these men are bats*it crazy and just plain stupid.... well Cain is stupid.... Ron Paul isnt really stupid....but he is crazy.....

Anyhow... at least Paul or Cain could have at least put on a good front about caring what happens to all america.....

Yep, I opened a bank account with an EXPIRED WA state driver's license--same scenario with food stamps. But, that isn't good enough for the republicans. They want an expensive up-to-date I.D. that is going to cost me a lot of time and money to get.

My favorite Who song was always "Slip Kid". I'll bet you don't even remember this album:
