Voter ID, why Democrats don't want it
I really cannot think of any reason why anyone would support allowing votes to be cast for anything without having control over whether or not those who are voting actually have a right to vote. Unless there is an intention to commit voter fraud, why would any American eligible to vote not want to make certain that those who are not eligible to vote be allowed to diminish the votes of American's who are?
Well, here is the best reason that Democrats could come up with;
Republicans say they have pursued voter ID laws to prevent fraud. Democrats call it a political ploy to suppress voters who may not have the proper identification, particularly affecting groups that typically vote Democrat.

My question is this; "Why would any American citizen who is involved in the American political process not have some form of identification?" WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE? AND WHY ARE THEY TYPICALLY THOSE WHO VOTE DEMOCRAT?
Maybe it's just me, but it seems that the Democrats are saying that it is mostly Americans who, for whatever their personal reasons, do not want to be identified. Are these people ashamed of voting Democrat? If so, why? Just what Americans who are responsible enough citizens do not have any way to identify who they are or if they are indeed even Americans? Does this not pretty much not make taking away voting rights from citizens who have committed crimes null and void? How do we prevent the millions of illegal aliens who have committed the crime of entering and living in the U.S. from casting votes for those who will allow them to stay in the U.S.?

Of course, you are right on with your comments. There is no other reason for going against voter ID than to provide cover for illegal voters. I notice that it takes an ID to get in many public buildings and even takes an ID to attend most political events such as an Obama speaking event. I have never actually met anyone who does not have a valid form of ID but then I don't hang out near the Mexican border either.
The democrats are pretty transparent on this one. I fully expect a great deal of voter fraud in this election and I also expect the DOJ of ignore the fraud. After all Obama has all the levels of government well covered with those whom he has oppointed.

So in the US, you don't need ID to vote? Lol
Proof of address and Citizenship up here... Even more odd is that it was the liberal party that pushed the rule through.

Well Robo, I would agree. The sole reason to avoid or put doen voter ID is to allow those non-eligible to be able to vote. Period.
However, I am sure you heard earlier this week, that the Texas law was struck down on voter ID, even though SEVERAL other state DO have a voter ID law.
I don't see anything wrong with having a law that says you MUST be eligible to vote. However, I think that having a state ID should NOT be a qualifier. Personally, I think every county in every state, should issue a voter card. They should have to be proven your country of birth by a birth certificate, you should prove your residence in a county by utility bills and either rent contract or deed to property, AND you should have to show some state ID that says you live where you claim to live. Even illegals can get a drivers license in my state. So, showing state ID doesn't necessarily mean you are a legal, voting citizen.

I don't think political liberalism is the same in Canada as it is in the U.S. From some of the things I've read about coming from Canada's Liberal Party, they are no where near as Socialistic leftist as the U.S. Democratic Party is under the Obama administration. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of good Democrats in the Democrat Party. They just seem to be keeping their heads low during this current administration. I don't think that Obama and his thugs treat anyone in the Democrat Party who does not cowtow to Obama very well.

What is most fascinating about this is that most states have some sort of stop and identify statutes that require citizens to show identification of who they are to any police officer requesting the information (Your papers....please!).
So, all we really need to do is to have police at the voting stations who can require that anyone not providing ID to do so.

I have not seen any statistics that say voter fraud is rampant in this country. This seems to be a solution chasing a problem. Why are these guys wasting all this time refining voting laws? There are many more important issues that need to be dealt with. Could it be motivated by politics rather than the good of the country?

So the guy who once told me that vehicle ID tags are pointless and that we should do away with them is now trying to get everyone to get more identification....crazy.
I do think that people should have to prove that they are legal US citizens before they can vote, but is this not forcing more government down the throats of the people? I thought republicans wanted less of that...not more.

Florida....bush......Diebold.....voter fraud........hmmmmmmmm

Voter ID laws coming up now are to block the poor and elderly from voting.
I would not be against photo ids if the government could insure that all elderly voters who desire to vote...and handicapped voters as well... are given assistance in getting down to the dmv to get their photo taken.
Lot of states let the elderly get by without photos on their drivers licenses....I think Tenn is like that.
There is no problem with voter fraud in this country......no dead people voting.....might be a few illegals voting but Id say its probably some ignorant inbred illegals who have been here so long they dont realize they cant vote.......
Anyhow.... Im not so much against it as long as everyone who must have the photo id doesnt have a problem getting one.

Forget about statistics. Why would we not require voters to prove who they claim to be? For what reason?
The rationale that the Democrats are trying to sell is that responsible American citizens who are responsible enough to go to the polls and vote are not responsible enough persons to have some way to identify who they claim to be. Does this really make sense to anyone?

The question really is "why is this important now?" Haven't picture ID's been around for some years? The answer is obvious to anyone - the Rich White Man party is grasping at straws to remain relavant - it's a shame really, since for our country to survive we need two or more strong political parties. But alas the GOP is going the way of the dodo.

We ID people to buy guns, alcohol & cigarettes, most people both conservative & liberal think that's a good idea, but then most libs don't wanna ID anyone before they're allowed to vote?
Smells like a certain political party is getting ready to commit voter fraud to me....
WHY?
