AC outdoor unit not running

To get you through until you can get the system repaired/replaced pick up a couple of window units on Craigslist. Buy them right and you can sell for what you got in them once your A/C is fixed. It's what we did and it takes the pressure off to get something in there quick. We were without A/C for a week and the hassles of sticking a window unit in was less than moving the family into a hotel room !!

My take on your problem is a blown dual capacitor. Easy fix.

Our friend repairman just came out this afternoon and found the problem. The wiring off the fan motor had come loose, he fixed it and didn't charge us a penny either! He thinks the ties he had used when he replaced the motor last spring were cheaply made and broke (he stopped using them since). We're having him for dinner for some steak and beer-can chicken!
