Does anybody know where I can find work as a maint. tech or apprentice? Have schooling, EPA cert, oil burner lic. Not asking for much $$.... just a chance to gain some experience

You should be able to find a job with an oil company. Fall and winter is coming and there is always a need for burner mechanics. You'll probably be cleaning boilers for the first year or two but will gain experience. I'd drop by every oil/propane co in your area. You should be able to find something. Good luck...

look up B&B mechanical, ICEE, Berry Mechanical, New England Cooling Towers.... And check your resume. Be sure that when somebody is reading it, they feel like they just got punched in the face with the best resume they ever read. Write intelligently, but not like a professor. My resume is what I like to call a "Kick in the d!ck" style resume. Everybody that reads mine says WOW! you'll get a gig. just be patient, but hustle at the same time. Spread yourself all over the place, Google map HVAC Contractors and write a list down, map it out print up your resume and POUND PAVEMENT!!!!

My resume is pretty good, except the fact that I have little experience, other than school and some heating system work, that I've done over the last few yrs and can't prove. BTW, " kick in the dick " style resume..LOL...My search goes on!

You dont need to PROVE anything on your resume. You need to prove it once they hire you! make a "SKILLS" section on your resume, put that in, also add the parts in school that you excelled in!

I do like that it's focused on the trade you are applying for and experience relating to it. I don't need fancy descriptions of your high school as a fry cook job at the Golden Arches, or to know that you were on the high school debate team.

well, you'd lose a good tech... apparently you wouldnt want a guy that "organizes, manages and assumes the risk of a business" as an employee. Basically, I work for companies like I own them myself. I dont B.S. I am a self starter, I take EVERYTHING I can imagine into consideration, I follow a strict line of leadership traits.... Thats me. Like somebody said to me recently on here "Good enough, ISN'T" Thats me.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to be overly critical. I don't own the business that I work for but I am a manager and I do supervise several employees.

My experience with tradesmen that used to be owners is that they think they know more than the current owner, they know more than me, and this isn't their first rodeo. Entrepreneurs, or former entrepreneurs, don't make very good employees, in my experience.
