I'd like to consider York, but haven't been able to find a local York Certified Comfort Expert. There are a few small outfits listed as York dealers 50 miles away in Orange and Seminole Counties, but none in Brevard County.

They don't have to be "CCE" all that label means is they pay York X amount of dollars for advertising, spiffs, and marketing material. It has nothing to do with expertise, same goes for "Trane Comfort Specialist"

Hmmmm. I thought it meant they'd received training by the manufacture and were certified as qualified on that manufacturer's equipment.

Dan, does the Corrosion Grenade provide the protection it claims?

i don't know but would like to hear what others think. I assume its made of zinc which would corrode faster than the aluminum but i think the only reason it works on ships and sumbmerged steal structures is because they are surrounded by water which carries an electrical charge. I would think this thing would only work on the area that it is bolted to and not the rest of the system because it cant carry that charge through the air and the unit is grounded so the charge would disipate to ground.

If it were my house I would install the ASZC18 due to the lifetime unit replacement warranty. We used to sell primarily Amana and had little issues with it. The Trane unit is certainly better due to the two compressors and slightly higher efficiency but I imagine there will be a significant difference in price. my .02

I tried them several years ago on multiple oceanfront installations, the results we're mixed, it's no magic bullet, and no substitute for regular fresh water washdowns.

No, If it's - Too Good to Be True ....
_______ & WHAT would you expect a Grenade to do to your unit anyway?

And I don't have that Extended Life Warranty
[ yet ] _________ that may enable me to live to 128 years old either!

I was an Amana dealer for over 5 years and installed the ASZ18 ASC18 systems since they came out. They do not hold up well near salt water, even after 5 years I'm having to replace panels. The lifetime warranty does NOT cover failure from coastal corrosion. Lifetime replacement is only if the compressor fails, but the coil falls apart and trips the pressure switches before it can kill the compressor. Have already replaced several communicating boards where the start wire transformer pickup shorts to open. In the process of signing up with Trane....was always hesitant due to the cost difference, but it's one of the few brands I consistently see in Brevard county that are 20+ years old and still operating properly.

Hey Brett, congratulations! I just noticed you got your asterisk. Finally, someone shows up on this forum's contractor map within 100 miles of my Space Coast location! I'll be emailing you again later today.
