    Dishonorable Disclosures

I don't often start a thread, but this is important.

Some of you have friends and colleagues, just as I have from my Academy days, who work in special ops and intel.

In the past year or so, dramatic disclosures of tactics and methods were made available to the press via leaks, and speeches that were given in the course of official business. Film production people were invited intoi the White House for briefings, so that a dramatic Hollywood production could be written and filmed.

You need to watch this video, particularly if you think these things are "no big deal."

I'm here to tell you that you are incorrect in that assessment.

I couldn't find it but it would seem you felt as compelled to start a thread when Valerie Plame was outed. Or it was the cumulative effect of leaks that motivated you?

I can always count on you for a purposefully uninformed response, LOL!!

Valerie Plame was introduced to literally hundreds of people at Washington parties by her husband as, "this is my wife, Valerie, the CIA agent!"

Kinda hard to "out" someone who has been outed by her husband for years before the alleged fact!

But let's not let any pesky facts get in the way, old bean.

She was a covert agent and was outed for poiltical reasons.

If you were serious about leaks you should come up with a long list showing it is the norm and not an exception.

More of an ARP type thread isn't it?

And @ the idea that "outing" the so called "covert" CIA operative Valerie Plame is morally, or otherwise, equivalent to the danger our special forces troops have been put in by a variety of executive branch leaks in the last couple of years.
If more government is the answer, then it's a really stupid question.

LOL at your naivety that the "outing" of a covert agent was the only casualty. It sounds as though you are only concerned about leaks the past couple years. Very telling!

I like your sig line. Although it is a misattributed quote.

What I am serious about is leaks of classified information that can get people killed, and inhibit our ability to engage in covert ops. This is NOT for "politcal reasons," as you suggest. Of course, Axlerod would love for his minions to think so. He's counting on you to not think for yourself.

Even "shiver up my leg" Chris Mathews questioned this. Even Diane Sawyer. Liberals of the first order.

    Can't you?

Valerie Plame was most certainly not covert when her husband introduced her AS an agent to hundreds of folks, MOST of whom have no security clearance at all. This is something where a proponent cannot have it both ways. She was either a covert agent or she was not. The record shows that she was not, because of those many, many events.

In essence, if she was intended to be covert, she WAS outed. By her husband.

The types of revelations detailed in the video I posted are most certainly NOT the normal "leak," and YOU KNOW IT.

So please, find yourself another windmill.

Leaks where the truth is released can be beneficial to expose what should not be hidden or be counterproductive and actually put people in danger. I believe most of the reactions you are quoting is referring to "Stuxnet." Which should not have been leaked imo. The president announcing the killing of Bin Laden was perfectly appropriate. It just seemed to anger people on the right for political reasons. This president made the killing od Bin Laden a top priority after Bush lessened it.

"C.I.A. Closes Unit Focused on Capture of bin Laden"
    http://www.nytimes.com/2006/07/04/wa...6KcxvMKvP+mkAQ

The president is entitled to get appropriate credit for this action. Along with the CIA and military etc. Atleast he did not land on an aircraft carrier to announce it lol.

I've managed to get through about 7-8 mins of that video so far. And it has said virtually nothing. It is pure demagoguery to this point.

You are blind to the truth when it comes to Valerie Plame and the failure to connect that makes this thread political pure and simple. A serious thread about leaks could condemn both sides and rightly so. So far I can find no evidence that announcing the killing of Bin Laden has hurt anything. I will try to get through that horribly produced video and see if it contains anything of value. That video is dumbed down to appeal to the lowest common denominator. But that seems to be what motivates many.

Here is an example of the stupidity of some of these commentators.

In an exclusive interview with Newsmax.TV on Friday, Rustmann — who spent 24 years in the CIA...

“This is very risky business and when people leak our sources and methods — well, there’s one fellow, a Pakistani doctor, who is now in jail for 33 years” because the Pakistanis believe he helped Americans locate bin Laden.

“Everybody from the Pakistani intelligence service through the Taliban and down to al-Qaida are looking for individuals who were in that area at the time who might have been working for the CIA and were involved in the operation to locate and kill Osama bin Laden. These people are going to die if they’re found.”

Osama Bin Laden was killed it would not have been a secret to his followers. They would put 2 and 2 together. These are not patriots in my opinion they are merely against the president unless they are against all such leaks.

"We" got Osama Bin Laden and we deserve to know and rejoice in this fact!

OMG they leaked the name of the dog.

He was in the CIA and now he is in a PAC. Good for him.

Telll how how the leaking of so many details on the Bin Laden Op helps the US's security and position in the world. How does it help us for all of us to know minute details of a previously covert team? It used to be there were only rumors of a "delta force' then the media outed them with Carter's help after the botched Iranian op. This stuff can only serve to undermine our security-period. We have a right to know about Bin Laden? Where is that in the Constitution? Ok, fine, let the new out but ONLY once you've had a chance to analyze the intel collected! Those guys risked their lives so the Obama Admin. could blow the usefulness of the intel collected. You have to begin asking yourself who's side are these people on. That's the question these people are asking. Quite frankly I'm astounded anyone could or would attempt to cover for the Admin. on this issue because there is no justification for their actions except to undermine the US-period. The Admin. is guilty of treason and they should be tried and jailed.

The 9th amendment says we have rights that are not mentioned in the Constitution. Paul Ryan says that our rights come from God. Whether the term "right" is used in a legal or moral sense, the nation had a right to know imo.

You didn't know we had special ops forces? Believe me other countries knew we do. If that was kept secret, it would only be a secret in the US.

    How was any intelligence blown?

With your thinking Bush committed treason when he announced we were after Bin Laden and then again when he announced we weren't.

When Obama announced the death of Bin Laden the reasons are obvious to most Americans and the rest of the world. What was the reason for outing Valerie Plame?

When the rescue under President Carter failed it seems to be a slam on him and not the military. Seems like a double standard to me.

right 1) n. an entitlement to something, whether to concepts like justice and due process, or to ownership of property or some interest in property, real or personal. These rights include various freedoms, protection against interference with enjoyment of life and property, civil rights enjoyed by citizens such as voting and access to the courts, natural rights accepted by civilized societies, human rights to protect people throughout the world from terror, torture, barbaric practices and deprivation of civil rights and profit from their labor, and such American constitutional guarantees as the right to freedoms of speech, press, religion, assembly and petition. 2) adj. just, fair, correct.
