"Fun" mess I get to clean up.
I've always liked working on things like Aaon and Lennox L Series package units, but I've now encountered something that makes me question the whole concept of having the compressors on a shelf in the same compartment with all of the microprocessor and electromechanical controls.
This doesn't look good.

Nope, not good at all.

Oh boy....

First time I've ever seen all 3 terminals blow out!

This is going to take many cans of electrical and electronic parts cleaner...

I'm thinking there is a connection to this issue.

I didn't get out a measuring tape, but my eyeball tells me this is more than the 1" of belt deflection called for by the sticker on the end of the blower housing.

As far as anyone knows, this is the original factory belt, on a 6 year old unit with a high speed high static pressure reverse bias blower.
I'm thinking the belt should be replaced every year...

How does that belt even stay on there?!

I was surprised by that too!
The belt was chewed to hell, but still on the pulleys. I didn't fire it up the way it was, so didn't get to hear it, but I imagine there wasn't much motor energy being transferred to the blower.

Take a week just to get up to speed

Nice one. Guess the compressor didnt agree with head through the roof and drinking liquid. Have fun

Went back and replaced the compressor, and cleaned up the unit a bit.
The piping for the suction line filter only took 2 fittings, the rest I did with a ratcheting pipe bender.

Cleaned up the controls with 5 cans of electronics parts cleaner, and a mess of rags. Still plenty of burned oil residue left though.

Oh, I also back flushed about 3 cottonwood trees worth of fuzz out of the condenser coil, then hit it with foaming cleaner and got 2 more trees worth!

Looks good! But you forgot to replace the blower belt!

And dont forget to shove the terminals back into the compressor if you can find them.

Oh and the clearance to that roof as well as that wall built around the unit? Theres no way you getting high dicharge pressures/temps.
