Little bastard.
Finally got it out by turning on the AC. Figured the HX would cool to around 55º and it would slither out.
SOB stuck it's head out several times. Stuck it's tounge out at me and went back. It must have gone all the way to the collector box and down another tube. Startled me because I was focused on the one it entered.
I had to put the door on it so it would crawl all the way out of the tube. I caught it with a piece of PVC and gave it a toss. Then found it again crawling back to me so I tossed it a couple of more times.

I found a snapping turtle next to a Trane air cooled chiller at a concrete plant one time. I might be old and slow but I can still out run a turtle. Good thing too that turtle was the size of a turkey roaster pan and had a head the size of your fist.

I thought about roasting it, but didn't want to kill it and leave it inside the tube. I thought it might mess with the secondary air and soot the tube.
I did call the office and refreshed their memory about me not caring much for snakes.
One of the plumbers told me to take one of the self igniting propane tourchs in crawl spaces. He said to fire it up if you run nose to nose with one.
A couple of years ago the carpenters killed a rattle snake by a condinsing unit we installed the day before.
It would be nice strap a camera to a snake and have it crawl through HX looking for cracks and other problems.

09-07-2006, 09:54 PM #7Running up on a rattlesnake (something I've never done) would scare the hell out of me if I were 40' from it with running shoes on in the open outdoors, much less in a crawl space! I think the lady was screwing with you however. Have to appreciate her humor I suppose.Originally posted by bigbird

I made a smartass remark once about a snake under a house. the tenant was interested because they did recently loose a snake. They had a room full of them.

I've ran into rattle snakes before on a jobsite. Thankfully it was new construction (apartments), so no supprizes under a house lol.
Still, coming down off a ladder and getting told not to move since there's a 3' snake that wants to kill you right under your ladder.... not a great feeling. Scurried up 4 steps (don't think I hit the 1st 3.. dumb idea to tell me not to move there's a snake by your feet). Anyway, they were too chicken to come get it, so I started dropping tools on it until I killed it. Thank god I had my tool belt loaded up!"If you call that hard work, a koala’s life would look heroic."

There are very few tools that I own that I would drop from a ladder in an effort to hit anything other than an insubordinate employee.

I did have a plan if I ran out of tools. Start dropping zip screws and hope I got him in the eye's so he couldn't see me to bite me hehe"If you call that hard work, a koala’s life would look heroic."
