    robertshaw oven tstat

Just wondering if anybody knows what the grease type substance is in the robertshaw oven stat. This grease lubes the cone shaped gas control part of the stat..... I've had a few where this grease has dried up and caused the knob to sieze.

Gas valve grease. It lubricates and seals. You can buy or order it at Heritage, Whaley's, Ecolab or whoever your local restaurant equipment supplier is. Most techs who do restaurant equipment repair will keep it on their truck. It's more commonly used on burner control valves commonly used for gas stoves, broilers and such. Proper use is to disassemble and clean the old component, then LIGHTLY apply the grease to the moving parts. If used too heavily, it will clog ports and passages.

One tube will last for 10 years. Just a little dab on moving parts. Also make sure to clean old grease from surface or it will soon stick again.
