Thread: outdoor thermostat/ aux lockout

New RHLA rheem air handler..outdoor unit not installed. I want to be able to lockout the heat strips at the thermostat. What thermostat would you recommend. Is there a particular Rheem outdoor heat pump you would recommend?

The RPNE will deliver 13.5 to 14 SEER (depending upon size) with that air handler.
For a stat, the ultimate is the Vision Pro IAQ. The standard VP 8320 will do backup heat lockout and compressor lockout. The new IAQ model will even stage the backup heat if you have more than 10 kw. Also will do a humidifier and other goodies.

Outdoor unit is the 4 ton RPPB. It was installed today! Vision Pro will be installed....15KW backup heat. Can you comment on the Defrost Logic of the Rheem RPPB heat pump?
