    Trane XE 80 wattage calculations

    This is the purpose of calculating wattage requirements - I am thinking about buying a portable generator

    What are the wattage requirements for the A/C unit?
    What are the wattage requirements for the furnace?

    In the alternative, what is the horsepower of the furnace motor?

    Do you have a model number (most useful) or tonnage for the Trane XE 80?

    A 7.5 kw generator and transfer switch would work for the essentials in your home.

    Nothing in the paperwork and nothing on the outside of the furnace - sounds dumb, but where do I look?

    I am considering either a 7000 or 8000 watt Briggs&Stratton Generator - 30 amp output to the transfer switch (Reliance 31410CRK)
    Also have a fridge and an upright freezer

    The 8 K will handle the furnace, fridge and freezer along with a few lighting circuits.

    The TTR024 is your Ac unit

    Your TTR024C100A1 is your outdoor Condenser... Its electrical data is...

    208/230 Volt - 1 phase - 60 Hz
    Min Amps (MCA): 15
    Max Amps (MCOP): 25
    Watts: 25*230 = 5750 (Worst Case).

    The furnace, I assumed worst case was 11 amps fully loaded, so 115 volt * 11 = 1265 Watts...

    7015 watts for both your furnace and a/c.

    Thanks Sam... Exactly what I needed to know. No a/c with the 7k or 8k generators. Will plan on fans 😄
