Guessing that the sound you hear is the fan and compressor are going in and out of phase with each other. Ordinarily, this sound should not be noticed. Possible that components are touching the case amplifying the sound. Remove the shroud, try to locate scource of the vibration. Copper tube should be moved to eliminate the vibration. I am not aware of any damage that will occur by operating until a component fails. I would operate the unit for the rest of the season. Fan motors are shorter lifed than compressors. At the end of the season contact the service dept. at 800 533 7533 and tell them of your concerns.
