Just love the organic sound insulation addition to this mobile home furnace

All she wanted to/could pay for was a blower cleaning. I pulled the blower and brushed off some extra from the wiring and some of the sheet metal. After I asked how old the system was she said "It came with the trailer and we bought that in 91"

After cleaning the blower I went outside to check the condenser and take a few readings when I found this:

Just doesn't get any better than that.

This is why I love working on trailers... NOT! They are always caked with dirt and the people want to spend $ for a $$$ job.

Not sure, didn't get into it because the customer din't want to pay for all the work that was needed. I defrosted the coil and cleaned the blower and then checked amps on the OD fan and compressor. Told her to call me when she could get the rest of the work done. She has done nothing to this system since it was new, no inspections or cleaning other than having the capacitors replaced it seems. She said she didn't even know it had a filter on it until a few months ago. I don't expect it to last the season but you never know.

Yup, sure did. Well, if you consider pulling off the carpet and brushing down the bits I could brush off a cleaning then I guess I cleaned it. But it's still impacted with 20 years of crap. Quoted her a price to make her system work properly and she said "I'll call you" I said "Ok"

Mobile homes usually have the transformer outside for the rc terminal on the t-stat and the indoor transformer for the rh terminal; no jumper between them.

You knew that. You are just pulling our chains.

Actually I work on mobile homes all the time and have never seen a 2 transformer system. Except oil furnaces.

They all have RH and RC jumpered and use only the one transformer.

Our Nordyne/Intertherm furnace and A/C (that I rewired way back when) had a 10 or 15 VA transformer for heat and an add-on box with a standard 40VA for cool, the thermostat was 2 wire, standard R and W, closed for heating, open for cooling, with a large DPDT rocker switch for heat/cool on the add-on box that poked through a hole cut in the furnace's front cover.

I re-wired it for a standard 4 wire T-stat because the smaller Xfmr buzzed so loud it could be heard at both far ends of the trailer at night. As per my other thread from years ago I retained all the safeties and even added a 3 amp fuse for the Xfmr secondary.
