Walk-iin Frozen liquid line
I have not come across this before.
walk in cooler with 3 evaporators. I'm getting what looks to be a huge pressure drop across the liquid line solenoid valve.
slightly warm on one side frozen on the other. Could it be that the llsv is not opening fully and acting as a metering device ?
I did not do much with the unit because it was over 100 degrees here friday and it was off on head pressure. I removed the 3 shopping bags from the condenser got it running and rushed off to the next call.

For your liquid line to be frosted on the outlet of the solenoid valve, that's a major restriction.
It was 100* and you had to rush to the next call? geeeze, what temperature was the walk in at? must have some patient customer there

Restriction for sure. Make sure the flow direcction is correct before taking the valve apart or changing it.If you really know how it works, you have an execellent chance of fixin' er up!

I agree with rayr. check for the right direction. Iwould cycle it off of the defrost timer with your gauges on it to check its operation too. You may just have to replace the coil on it. But you may need to buy the whole valve to get the coil.

A single LLSV?
Or three separate valves? One for each evaporator?
Pump the unit down and pull the top off the solenoid. Don't lose any of the parts. Make sure the bleed port is clear and look down inside the body for yak stuck in there.
It is a flare or solder connection body?
If that doesn't fix it I would put a drier right ahead of it and make sure the body is clear before installing the drier.
Iron body or welded compressor? If it's an iron body maybe it's a scrap of gasket left from the last valve plate replacement. <g>
