Amana ASXC 16 TPX & A coil issues?

I have a new Amana ASXC 16 - 3 ton system installed about 2 years ago. While it was being serviced recently, the tech noticed that the thermostatic expansion valve was not operating properly, and was not able to meet the 16-20 degree range (This valve also had a leak upon original install that allowed all of the 410a to evacuate). The system was also low about 1 lb of refrigerant during this recent service visit. The installer is proposing the evacuate the system, and install a new TPX and a new A-coil, citing the number of Amana coils they have replaced already this year. Has anyone had any similar problems as I am describing? Thx
