Have not seen most fo you in awhile. I kept gone for some time, I was upset about a couple things. Life is too short.

So I am gonna start coming back around. If you'll have me. Some of you don't need to answer that.

I don't know where we all left off. I have been down here in Dallas, TX for the last 18 months working supermarkets, some of you catch me on the other channel. I am leaving the markets again. 4 full days till I turn the truck in. Sound like a broken record hey? LOL. Hopefully this time it's gonna be long term. Just can't do it no more. Too many hours all the time. I am getting into chillers and boilers, and still with a couple toes in some reefer, but bigger.

So whats new with youz guyz?

Well, life is just life... I will be 60 this fall before the election... My Dad died last week... and HVAC work is a little better than last year.

Glad to see you back. I was on hiatus for a while as well. I did grocery stores for many years and, while it's good work, the hours do get old. You wind up giving too much money to Uncle.

Ole markettech followed his own path to here, I just happened to be at the place he was coming to. I wish him good luck, as I am leaving the place we are both at.

So whats the frick up fellas. Anyone dead? Hows Business for you self employed guys? Ed, great to see you still alive up there. I am glad to hear it.

We have been back to Detroit several times, although it's been awhile, we were up there in late fall and it was still not looking too good economics wise. We miss it. Spoke to my old boss once and he was still slow.

Life is good for me. I came down here, worked my but off, just got burnt out, have to move on you know. I knew in the back of my mind that likely taking the job it would not be something I could do for a long time. I was right. I just knew it was just a thing I had to do at the time and get myself to a better spot. Very demanding. These boys will work you. I just could not sustain it for very much longer. I wish em luck.

But I am excited about the new job. I am gonna go show these hvac guys how the real fuggers do this. LOL. Seriously. I got so much to learn. I am guessing the next few years will be some real hard work to get up to muster. I have been reading the chillers forum the last several weeks and I am thinking, "holy crap, what did I get myself into". Yikes.

Life is fantastic. Trying to quit the cigs again. Man I wish i could beat this. I am going to the gym for the first time in years this evening. I hope I don't die of a heart attack on the bike. I figure I need to start occupying my time, the new job will not be as many hours, so getting more healthy again might be a good way to transition and not feel so jumpy and bored. I am out of shape.

Im still self employed D...work is ok, but I remember being allot busier. The economy still sucks here and I don't recommend coming back to this liberal cesspool they call Michigan.
You did the right thing by going to Texas as I hear/read the economy is much better overdey and the BBQ too.

Haven't seen Bob in a long time, Im sure he is busy out there...he's got himself a good niche.

I was wondering what had happened to you.

I quite smoking in '93. I used the nicotine patch. Glad I did, too.

I quit the cigs in 91... had been kinda on and off them back and forth... Here is what I did: Made myself rules to follow, and tightened them as I went along:
Rule #1: NO smoking inside the house
Then a mos later added:
Rule #2: NO cig before breakfast
Then a mos later added:
Rule #3: NO cig after dinner
Then a mos later added:
Rule #4: NO cig in the van
Etc, etc, etc...

The result was I was down to a less than 2 packs a week... then they started to not taste good anymore... so one day I pitched them and never looked back. I was 39 at the time... now I am closing in on 60 and it was one of the BEST things I did for my health. The other best thing I have done for my health is watching my diet carefully! Lots of fresh veggies and fruits... easy on the bad stuff.

Texas is a GREAT place if you have the entrepreneurial spirit... or you want to work HARD... and it is HOT. I am kinda happy with Atlanta... it is a bit less pressure and still decent $$$. The standard of living here is cheaper than DFW or Houston... so one does not have to make as much $$$... OR pay as much taxes.

Best of luck to you in the chiller/boiler world... If I was still in my 30's I would either go for that or the market world... this resi stuff is not a mental challenge... It IS enough physical challenge for me now... so I think I will stay where I am. And I get paid when the job is done... not next week or next mos or 3 mos or collection...

Hey D, good to hear you're still kickin.

As for me, just trying to limp along to the finish line.
Just got layed off from a place last monday, was only there a month and a half, thru the major heat wave.

That makes the total 14 contractors in 36 years in the business.
The longest one for 10 years, the shortest 3 days.
The last 6 years or so have been off and on, mostly off, very frustrating.

Still live in the old neighborhood. Ran into an old co worker of yours couple days ago at the market, Chuck. He said he could put in a word for me at his shop, but I told him an old dog like me couldn't handle it, remember all the work you had to put in there, all nighters ect. And supermarket stuff has never been my thing.
