How NOT to install commercial package units...

Was called by one of our retail customers to give them a bid on a full service contract for a new location in Somerset, KY. Needless to say, when I saw this installation I was a bit surprised it was nice of the building landlord to build us a "deck"

Wow! And look where the disconnects are! So did you bid the job?
-
So to shut off the disconnect on the wall do you lean over the gutter or stand on the ductwork?

Did you ask why the did not put them on the roof? With all that steel they could not have saved any money.
And there is absolutely nothing there from stopping anyone from driving into the platforms and killing someone! who does that? How did that pass an inspection?
Good luck man.
-
Just curious. Are the platform legs 2x4's? I say should be 6x6's!!
-
No, did not bid this job, Told them we would not touch it with a 10' pole...especially since the pole would not reach anyways
The building was a prefab type construction with a tin roof, not enough steel to support these big units. As for the inspection, building inspector told me they are still on a temporary, no final yet ! This may get real interesting !

Looks like 4x4 to me. You can see some of them are warped. I would refuse this job, whether I was owner or employee.

you can work on those with a lift! lol
-
We have several jobs with units like that. Makes you wonder how often perminent scaffolding needs inspecting and when the last time it was. The units are 20 to 30 years old.

That's the stupidest thing I've ever seen. Why didn't they put them on the ground and run duct work up outside of wall?
-
When you think you have seen it all....... Unbelievable.

That was my question or put in an air-cooled chiller and coils.
