what is this?
this item is on a stainless plate water chiller
is this to keep the evap flooded? and draws vapor off the top of this tank?

surge drum. used to keep the cooler flooded and at saturation temp.
without flooding compressor
you must be working in a food process facility or bread plant.

This is made to keep the evaporator flooded and when you want to recirculate the refrigerant for subcooling.

yes it is a bread factory, thats good info thanx for the responses
i see that it is similar to an amonnia vessal
