Wierd readings on compressor
I went out on a call today for the outdoor unit tripping the breaker. The problem ended up being the wires were rubbing each other going through the wall from the house. But before i found the bad wires I tested the compressor. When I first put my lead on the common terminal it read about 30 mega ohms for about 2 seconds then went to open loop. The start winding did the same thing. Ive never seen it before so I tried my other meter and it did the same thing. Has anyone else seen this before?

I guess you are reading from each terminal to ground? if so: your meter's voltage is building a capacitance until it reaches infinity. Recommend you meg the compressor.
