    How do you get off the roof once working in commercial

    What skills can you recommend learning to avoid having to use extension ladders and working on roofs in commercial hvac.

    Chillers and controls are the only two jobs that will keep you off the roof at least 75% of the time.

    No one job in this trade will keep you off the roof 100% of the time.

    From what I hear, working on vending machines will keep you off the roof.

    Where I work we are lucky enough to have 99% of our equipment is on the ground. I would guess that's probably not the norm, but I like it. You can get within 25 feet of the unit with the van!

    Maybe it's just finding the right job?

    I would try supermarket refrigeration. Most of the roof access is from fixed ladders on site. I know some techs that don't carry any ladders on their trucks.

    The fun part is setting up the ladder, tying it off, climbing up and then dropping the rope to pull all of your crap up! Lol

    Not to be rude but in commercial hvac your gonna have to climb a ladder and lug 1/2 of your van on the roof from time to time.
