bonuses for bringing other techs

The last non-union outfit I worked for, offered a $1500 reward for bringing a new tech aboard, they pay $750 upon hiring and $750 after 6 month, one of my co-workers got the reward.
around here union shops dont operate that way, they entice techs to jump ship by offering paid vacation and over-scale wages.

My company pays $500 after 3 month probabtion period to the referring tech.

some owners over the years in conversation,asking Oh...do you know any guys?i use to say for $1000 maybe,and they would look at me like ...WHAT thinking i should do it for free cause i work for them.$750-$1000 is a good range with tech in a van out doing breakdowns and start-ups-installs.the guy in my first post runs a 638B union shop and has no source to contact the union for people they will send a A fitter at $50HR,and that's just to show up....
