Multimeters: What's in your tool kit?

I'm looking for a new and affordable multimeter. I need to measure Volts, Ohms, and MFD. Amps and temp would be a bonus. Like to buy online to save a few bucks.

fieldpiece sc56 online for 177. its my primary meter

fieldpiece is nice and reasonably priced. I like the swivle head unit it does duty cycles too

Fieldpiece SC77 and SC56 in my truck. You'll also want microamps for checking flame sensors and millivolts for thermopiles. Both the 77 and 56 have those features.

My habit has always been to spend money on the important tools.

Fluke 376 clampmeter and 116 multimeter.

Fluke 335 clamp meter and fluke 116 multimeter, in my bag. Also have the FP hs36 in my garage somewhere as well as another nice fluke meter that doesn't have microamps. If you go FP get the sc56. I was won over by fluke from fieldpiece and probably won't go back.

i received a UEI meter from trade school 6 years ago.
i dropped it off of a 2 story building and it still works.

sears let me use their Fieldpiece meter but i preferred my UEI.
i also wasn't too thrilled with a Fluke that had no clamp.
in-my-opinion meters with separate pieces are a pain

i've seen techs buy expensive meters which can't measure compressor starting amps.

(but , one tech bought an expensive UEI model and he broke it 2 weeks later)

UEI meters are cheap but they are usually good quality

I use the fieldpeice sc77 but if you want something cheaper amprobe makes a decent clampmeter that does amps mfd and temperature. like 99 bucks i think.

I expected the need would be only occaisional, but it is a great feature to have when you need it. It fits into tight spots around large conductors.

Im curious about this also. Im looking to add a 376 to my tool bag that already has a 87v.

I got the fieldpeice sc56 and its very nice. comes with k type thermocouple which is nice. i love the inrush amp draw it takes, very good.
