    The closet where the ac handler is located...

    is pretty warm compared to the rest of the house, would it be worth it to wrap it in some type of insulation or not? Kind of like wrapping the hot water heater to retain its heat but wrapping the Ah to keep the heat out.

    Is it exposed somewhat to the attic or unconditioned garage?

    The plenum & ducts should be adequately insulated...

    Make sure it's Not drawing any unconditioned air into the Return Air...

    Do not attempt to wrap the unit. Look for air leakage into room and seal if not needed for combustion and insulate the room. You must maintain air space clearance to combustibles.
