    Electrostatic air cleaner...

Recently moved into a "new to us" home built in "93, with what appears to be the original Bryant furnace "PLus 90".

It has a EAC (also made by Bryant). When we first moved in, I removed the "filters" to clean them, in the dishwasher. When I reinstalled them, I noticed the light indicating "power", only came on for a second and went out. There's a "Push to Test" button that when depressed, sometimes not always, I hear a "bug zapper" noise and the power light flickers. Is this an indication the unit is working or malfunctioning?

Sorry, I don't remember if the power light was working before I removed the filter baskets.

The "bug zapping" sound indicates that the EAC is working.

P.S. It's a electronic air cleaner, not "electrostatic". Big differance. The first is good, the second is junk.

Thank you very much! I only used that word as it appears on the unit itself.
