You all have been a great help. And, funny too. You are all correct, grandma is 91, came from the south and our windows here are storm windows that tilt out. I think her engineer friend is imaginary in that she made this person up to justify what she just has come to know as "the way to do things". She won't even let me professionally shampoo the carpeting as her engineer says that ruins the carpet. Losing battle I guess. Unfortunate as the house will be mine someday and I just sit and watch as things fall apart due to poor practices with no aspirations to argue...oh, well.
