I remember years ago they would send out separate small sections of the books ( must have been a ring binder ) as a sales promo to show you examples of what its like. they must have mailed them out to all hvac companies because I had never contacted them.
They looked pretty good but I never ordered it being it was too little info to tell what you were rally getting

That is what I have. The ring binder with gold cover thin books. I didn't know if anyone else had seen them or not.

I have seen that product mentioned in this site over the years. I get the impression they are quite a few in here know the author. Some were trying to contact him to see if they still sold the books. Not sure how long ago I had gotten samples but I,m guessing it was a good 25 years ago at least, probably even longer ago then that.

I bought the 4 separate binders for around $180.00. IMO it was a complete waste of money. One could learn just as much just by reading the instructions that come with the equipment we install. There is only about 1/3 of each page that has useful information on it, but again, this same info is in manufacturers free instruction manuals.
If you cut out all the fluff from the 4 binders you might have 10 pages of information. Over priced and over hyped. Save your money.

Anyone who doesn't have Tech method will never get as good as those that do. Superheat at the compressor and subcooling was never taught or talked about until he put it on the map.
Composed of 13 booklets, 6 thru 13 address each level of equipment specifically. High Temp TXV, High temp Cap tube, Medium TXV, Medium Cap tube, Low temp TXV, etc on to Ultra low temp equipment.
I've had mine for over 20 years and it was the best money I ever spent. I actually have 3 copies as he's upgraded it over the years.
You'll find posts about people that keep digging gems out of what he wrote the longer they keep it. It's really a masterpiece of troubleshooting and changed how troubleshooting and charging are done nowadays.

I've never seen used TECH Method books available anywhere, ever. People don't give em up. I recouped the money the first week I owned it. Dual cap tube system with one plugged with solder. Nailed it so fast I couldn't believe it.
It's only gotten better since then. :-)

I got a ordered a copy after reading Gary's advice elsewhere, i think it paid for itself though there will be no earth shattering revalations for people who are already competant in their field.
Most of the stuff i work on i know what the problem is as i've seen it many times before but for systems i'm not so familiar with the series gives you two ways of looking at a problem rather than one which is often helpful.

Do you know where I can get it please as I have searched everywhere I am in UK and willing to pay for it

The company I worked for about ten or fifteen years ago passed the TECH Method books out to the technicians and held continuing education classes based upon the book. For me, personally, it greatly improved my abilities as a technician, reduced callbacks, and led to me being awarded Tech of the Month twice during my tenure with the organization. I still use the TECH Method to this day. Probably the most practical HVAC book in my substantial collection.

Here is a blurb from...let's call it "channel 6."
Since I retired, I have received numerous inquiries about my books. The heart attack a few years back kinda slowed me down. Seemed like the right time to start taking it easy.
I recently made arrangements with my daughter and son in law to distribute the books. For those who are interested, they are now available at ebay.com. Just type in "TECH Method Troubleshooting Books".

I've seen that on "channel 6". Seems like they were pretty expensive.
