    a/c coil maker/models -- how to select

    I noticed by bid does not spec the manufacturer or model for the coil
    to fit in the 16" plenum for the new condensor, lines, and coil I am getting
    bids on.

    The bid is for a carrier infinity unit. The HVAC guy said coils change in
    technology and aluminum ones are used more now.

    Should I care about the make of the coil, and what are some good
    brands/models? Aluminum over steel?

    Thanks for your advice, don't want a cheapie as a coil.

    I would choose copper (w/ aluminum fins) over straight aluminum coils just because copper has higher strengths than aluminum and from what I read are easier to maintain. Copper coils I believe cost more though.

    Manufacturer should be Carrier.

    Carrier is converting their indoor coil line to all aluminum. It is less susceptible to formicary corrosion.

    Most manufacturers have had all aluminum coils at different times throughout the years. There is no difference in strength or performance when used as they are intended.
