Definitely slow blow fuses, well no blow fuses in this case.

Copper diameter was obviously too small, next size up would have fit tighter and prevented this tragedy.

Nope. It just got heated beyond belief and caught fire. You could've roasted something on it I guess but it wouldn't taste very good.
