Condensate pan for an old Carrier AHU

I have an old heat pump in my condo. The AHU is a Carrier model # 40AQ024340GM. The condensate drain was never plumbed right in the first place and the secondary pan is now rusted through, though that's easy to fix and not the real problem.

While doing some cleaning and inspection before getting the secondary pan job done I found that the primary condensate pan inside the unit is rusted way beyond saving. It's leaking and crumbles when touched.

I'm trying to see what prices and availability are for the internal pan because I've heard horror stories about HVAC companies quoting high prices for replacement pans for old units, so high they become the deciding factor in scrapping the entire coil unit or the entire system. This is a very old system but it's working well and I'd like to sort out the drain issues inexpensively to get another few years out of it before I have to spend many $ for a whole new system.

From what I've been able to gather the part number for the internal condensate pan is 28HQ4000071. Can anyone confirm if that is correct? I ask because I see many other 40AQ models listed as using it but not my model # exactly. I've found several sites selling the pan for a $ dollars so it seems I may get lucky and it will be available at a reasonable price.

It could be labor intense to change the pan

It's right there inside the access panel but it looks like the coils need to move to get it out. Do they have to remove all the refrigerant to move the coils? And no matter what it won't be any fun, not much headroom or workspace in this attic location.

On some you got to remove the charge to pull the coil, and on some you don't.

I was recently tasked with changing a pan on a nearly 40 year old coil. Against my recommendation.
It did not go well.
Long story short, we ended up changing the coil.
At some point, repairing old equipment is just throwing good money after bad.

The compressor is over 20 years old, the AHU over 30. I'm on borrowed time and I know it but it would cost a boatload to replace the whole system and I don't have it. Replacing coils and the other work that's needed could come to a third of the cost of a new system. I'd rather do just the pans if I can. I don't want to cash out 401k or take another loan for a whole new 2 ton system.

There are some great financing options available. I wouldn't touch a mis-matched system that old... It's past time to replace that dinosaur.
If the coil starts leaking after the pan replacement, what then? Are you going to make the contractors life a living hell?

Nope, this is last ditch. If the price is right we do this fix, if not I guess I get to see how good the financing options are. That's why I'm trying to keep the price low.
