New Trane RTAC Chiller Installation

A few weeks ago we changed out a old Carrier Flotronic Chiller to a new Trane RTAC Chiller. We also removed the single split case pump, and installed 2 pumps. We also programmed the control system to control the pumps in a lead lag type control sequence. We had to complete this job in two days. We started on a friday night, and finished by 6 pm on saturday.

It looks nice for a two day turnkey replacement. It's obvious that the guys who actually did the work take pride in what they do, but it also looks like you had a low budget property manager at the helm. Those are the places you usually see old carrier recip single chiller/single pump, no redundancy, building full of menopausal women, and no money to do it right the first time! The piping leaves a lot to be desired, IMO... Whoever laid it out has obviously never had to actually work on these things, cause they blocked 50% of the service access. No fault for the field guys who got it done... The people who make these decisions rarely have to deal with the consequences of their oversights. Hopefully that chiller has control of the pumps, as well. Pump control is much more important with that new chiller than it was with the old Carrier DX chiller.

That piping is hugging the machine pretty tight ! I agree!
