Thx. I was a bit taken aback by the manufacturer's response, but I suppose I shouldn't be. The installer thought the manufacturer would be more supportive, but has never had this issue crop up before.
Since I really don't have recourse in this situation and my installer is not to blame, would you return ship the unit for rebuild or have the installer replace the coil? The manufacturer assures me if I return the unit to them it will be brought back up to spec with a full test out. My inclination is to ship it back, even though I'll probably be without cooling for the rest of the summer, and my warranty will expire before I have even put this thing to proper use.

The warranty tiem limit woudl be a godo question. I would tend to think that the warranty clock goes "on hold" since it's not in service, or resets after it's been rebuilt. But I'm not a lawyer.
If you send it back to the mfg, there will be less finger pointing if there is another problem.
You said this was a chiller, correct? If it is, and you really want AC this summer, you may be able to rent a small chiller. However, they will probably be 3 phase power. I have seen them as small as 5 tons.

Do a search on this site. I think you'll find that the manufacturer is a member here. And does indeed stand behind their product.
Name begins with a U?
