    Scranton, Penn....Liberal Exibit A

After decades under Democrat control Scranton is down to its last 5000 dollars in the bank.

They couldn't make payroll so their solution ? They cut firefighters and police abd city workers pay down to minimum wage. 7 bux an hour.

The water and fuel for the city is behind and will be cut off if the city cant come up with some money.

But the idiot Mayor and City Council refused to Guarantee their bonds which means no one will lend the city any money.

This is happening all over the Country and this is Obamas America. This hope and change and this is Obamas economy.

States are broke but are supposed to pick up the cost of the healthcare forall of the uninsured.

How is that possible ? Where will all of this new money come from ?

This is what happens when you elect an incompetent for President people.

Short sighted knee-jerk comment. If you would educate yourself about what is really happening to towns and cities and the budget shortfalls many are having due to changing the way things are financed (derivatives - hint, hint) you might get a better understanding of the problems inherent in the financial system as it stands. Birmingham would be a good case study. This old blame the D's or blame the R's game is kept alive to amuse idiots - not solve problems.

    Seroiusly ?

Then explain EXACTLY whats going on in Scranton ?

And derivitives is now a dirty word ? They've been around for ever. It was Barney Frank forcing Fannie and Freddie to buy crap loans that destroyed the economy, NOT DERIVITIVES.

Talk about economic ignorance. You're full of it.

You think piping in with your ignorance and saying "derivitives" is going to win the debate on Democrat failure ? What a joke.

The democrats forced those toxic MBS and without Wall Street there couldn't have been a secondary market.

It was the purpose of Fannie and Freddie to bundle and sale those derivitives to create a secondary market.

    NOW whos ignorant ?

Scranton was going to have to raise taxes 77% on bussiness or cut salaries down to minimum wage.Liberals are so effing stupid.

The only explanation is that its a disease.

So you're saying Scranton is broke because of the Libor Scandal ??

Really ? You're not dealing with another liberal Net.

I won't take your misinformation and lies and anit-corporate crap as the gods honest truth.

No I'm here to expose you guys with real relevant information.

Scranton Mayor Chris Doherty cut everyone's pay -- including his own -- on Friday, saying the state's sixth-largest city is broke because the City Council blocked his proposed tax increase. Doherty, a Democrat, warned nearly 400 police officers, firefighters and public works employees about his doomsday plan, prompting a Lackawanna County judge to order the city to pay full wages to all employees, citing that it is a violation of their contracts. Hours later, the payday envelopes went out, and, despite the judge's order, they were light.
    ...

The city of Scranton has battled budget woes for years, but the problems reached a boiling point after the City Council blocked Doherty's plan to raise taxes to cover a $16.8 million shortfall, opting instead to borrow money to cover the budget gap.

“The mayor is trying to strong-arm the council into doing what he wants, but it’s the city’s employees that are paying the price,” [president of the local firefighters union John] Judge said, adding that the workers in his department saw their paystubs go from about $1,500 every two weeks after deductions to a gross pay of about $600. “This is not a case of no cash. It’s a cash-flow problem.”

Also can you explain in detail what the Libor Scandal was and how and why it affected some towns ??

    If not I will.

On Rush, today, a caller pointed out that Scranton is in the heart of COAL territory and that Obama is trying to put coal production out of business.
More jobs down the tube due to Obama.....

Every town that is having financial problems is Obama's fault?????
I am pointing out that the blame Obama card is getting tired - we have gone through 30 years of this trickle down stuff - so where are the jobs you big time job creators? All the money has risen to the top and you and I aren't going to get any no matter how hard you or I work, the game is rigged and they keep the peasants busy pointing fingers at each other with this partisan circus.

By the way Scranton was a big coal area in my grandfathers time, not so much now.

After almost 2 decades under Republican control, the state of Texas faces a budget deficit estimated as high as $27 billion for the upcoming two-year cycle of 2012-2013.

Texas used about 6.4 billion in federal funds from the 2009 Recovery Act (Obama Stimulus) to fill a shortfall in its 2010-2011 budget cycle but those funds will not be available in the 2012-2013 budget cycle.

So Obama bailed Texas out and still the Republicans are so incompetent that they are looking at a $27 billion hole in their budget.

Maybe they should start with something a bit less economically complex, something more suited to their skills and business acumen.......a Lemonade stand comes to mind.

While the Usurper might be making it hard for US businesses to burn coal....coal production isnt in danger. China is taking every chunk of coal we can dig up and ship to them.

The small coal yards around here have trouble getting coal because they are no longer the mainstay of the mines...... Loading it onto freight cars and getting it headed to shipping ports is the main priority now.

America is dying because Americans cant learn to live without.

30 years ago we got buy without all the things we cant live without today...... Maybe if Americans would tighten their purse strings a little......quit trying to continue to keep up with the Joneses..... we would all be better off.

Same goes for citys and countys too........ Far too much waste.......and most of it is pure waste.

Beans and Cornbread........ thats what America needs to get back on track.

You should see the signs our local city has put up all around town...... they look like those fancy signs that you would see in a resort area or some historic town.....

Big gaudy expensive signs......and they put them everywhere.......

Yet.... you cant pick up the local paper without reading about another sinkhole shutting down another street because the water mains are corroding and washing away the dirt under the roads.

We are in a drought here....even though we have had rain this week....... but even in the middle of the dryest periods the street running beside our house has water running out of the cracks in the asphalt........lol and at the top of the hill there is a huge depression where the road is sinking.

City comes by when it gets bad enough to drag car parts off on and puts more asphalt mix on top..... but they do nothing to fix that pipe that is causing it.......and they do nothing to fill in the hole that is being made beneath their quick fix.

But we got signs better than ANY resort town in Tennessee.

GEERY Texas is the only stare hiring in America.

People from all over America are moving here.

Your delusional fantasy world where liberalism works doesn't work here.

I bring up a town that only has 5k in their bank account and you lie about Texas.

    Like we're a economic wasteland.

Liberals are mentally ill people. Its the only explanation.
